London PC dismissed for sharing vulnerable woman's video

A London police officer was dismissed after sharing body-worn camera footage of a vulnerable woman with his cousin. PC Isaac Keown was found guilty of gross misconduct for breaching confidentiality and discreditable conduct. Keown attended a domestic incident in August 2023 where a woman grabbed a knife, seemingly intending self-harm. He disarmed her, then recorded part of the footage on his personal phone and sent it to his cousin, a Gloucestershire officer. He initially claimed he wanted to "open her eyes" to challenges officers faced. The panel found his actions were "deliberate, informed" and dismissed him without notice. He has been added to the police barred list, preventing future employment in policing. A psychiatry report noted trauma-related difficulties but no severe mental disorder at the time of the incident.
