Lockheed Martin enhances CMMT with 3D printing technology
Lockheed Martin is advancing its Common Multi-Mission Truck (CMMT) by incorporating 3D printing technology. This new delivery system is designed to be modular, allowing it to carry various payloads, including munitions and sensors, and can be launched from different platforms. CMMT is intended to be more cost-effective, priced at $150,000 per unit, compared to traditional missiles that can cost over $3 million. It can be deployed from aircraft like the F-35 or ground vehicles, enhancing its versatility in military operations. While 3D printing will play a role in its production, Lockheed Martin acknowledges that not all components can be printed. The company plans to test different engines for CMMT later this year, aiming to optimize its performance and capabilities.
