LMC begins anti-encroachment drive to clear vendors for new underpass in Lucknow

Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) has launched an anti-encroachment drive near Awadh Crossing. Vendors in Zone 5 must remove their illegal structures by Tuesday to allow for the construction of a new underpass. The underpass, costing ₹121.09 crore, aims to ease traffic congestion at the busy intersection. It will connect Hardoi Road, Kanpur Road, and the Lucknow airport route. LMC officials warned vendors of legal action if they do not comply. The first phase of construction will take at least six months, with traffic diversions planned after the encroachments are cleared.
