Linköping theologian helps launch new Swedish New Testament translation

svt.se (Swedish) —

A new Swedish translation of the New Testament, seven years in the making, was launched last week, with Linköping theologian Dan Nässelqvist among its authors. Nässelqvist, a diocesan theologian for the Church of Sweden, described the work as the most enjoyable of his career, involving difficult trade-offs due to linguistic gaps between Greek and Swedish. It is the first full Swedish translation from the Greek texts since 1981. The Church of Sweden will distribute free copies of the new translation during services on the first Sunday of Advent. Nässelqvist hopes it encourages more people to read the Bible, citing its cultural, historical, and religious significance.
