A study in Nature Medicine analyzed data from 185 countries, finding 7.1 million cancer diagnoses in 2022 were attributable to these factors, with smoking being the leading cause. The research highlights the importance of addressing factors like smoking, alcohol, and infections to prevent cancer, with lung, stomach, and cervical cancers being among the most preventable.
