Liberals contact NDP MPs, seeking party switch
Liberals are reportedly contacting NDP MPs to gauge their interest in switching parties, according to Interim NDP Leader Don Davies. This move is seen as an attempt to secure a majority government. Davies stated that Liberals have made "feelers" calls to NDP MPs, but he is confident his colleagues will remain with the NDP. The Liberals currently hold 169 seats, just shy of the 172 needed for a majority. Prime Minister Mark Carney has previously ruled out a formal governing pact with the NDP. The NDP recently suffered significant losses in the election, dropping from 25 to 7 seats.
