Leopard sighted in Kollengode residential areas, cage installed

A leopard has been sighted in residential areas of Kalikolumb and Cheerani in Kollengode Grama Panchayat. Forest department officials have installed a cage to capture the animal. The decision to set up the trap follows reports from locals who claimed to have seen the leopard near Koshavankode two weeks ago. Surveillance and camera traps were deployed to track its movement. This is not the first time a leopard has been spotted in the area. A female leopard died after getting trapped in a fence near Koshavankode a year ago.
