LAX Meal Provider Accused of Forcing Worker to Clean Moldy, Maggot-Infested Dishes
A complaint filed against Flying Food Group, which prepares in-flight meals for airlines at Los Angeles International Airport, alleges workers faced unsanitary conditions after an employee was told to clean dishes covered in mold and maggots. The worker, Sonia Cerón, reported suffering stomach pain, a headache, and a nasal sensation. The incident occurred in June, and the complaint was filed last month with California's Division of Occupational Safety and Health. The Los Angeles Times reported the worker at the Inglewood facility was instructed to clean moldy dishes from a cart that had been unopened for an extended period. Flying Food Group denied the allegations, accusing union Unite Here Local 11 of a "false and misleading" narrative amid "protracted and contentious negotiations." Previous complaints against the company include sexual harassment, retaliation, wage violations, and locking emergency exits on a planned picket day.
