Latvian Postal Service honors General Kārlis Goppers with new stamp

Latvian Postal Service is issuing a stamp and envelope to honor General Kārlis Goppers on his 150th birth anniversary. Goppers was a decorated military figure, a leader in youth patriotic education, and the only president of Latvian Scouts. He was executed during the Soviet occupation. The stamp, valued at 2.35 euros, is part of a philatelic issue by artist Lilija Dinere. An exhibition dedicated to Goppers is also open in Riga until May 5.
