Large nutria captured in Friesland, only the fifth in fifty years

A large nutria, over a meter long and weighing over 10 kilograms, was captured in Friesland, marking only the fifth such sighting in fifty years. The invasive rodent was trapped after being spotted by a nature photographer and confirmed by wildlife cameras. Nutria are South American rodents that cause significant damage to dikes and biodiversity. The captured nutria was humanely euthanized according to protocol.
