Lalín Cemetery Wins Spain's Best Cemetery 2026 Award for Nature-Focused Design

telecinco.es (Spanish) —

A cemetery in Lalín, Pontevedra, has been named Spain's Best Cemetery 2026, also winning the Nature Alive award for its unconventional design featuring a playground, forest, and pond. The project, an expansion of the A Romea cemetery in Botos parish, was created by Promove Arquitectura with LaND30. It reinterprets the traditional funerary space as an open, nature-integrated park for remembrance, walking, and community gathering. The design incorporates existing woodland and offers cultural areas and open spaces for residents. The team previously received recognition at the LOOP Design Awards 2025, and the awards were collected by local officials representing the municipality.
