La Junquera builds bird observatory, attracting tourists
The La Junquera area in San Esteban is being transformed into a bird observatory to attract year-round tourism, with construction underway. The project, costing around one million euros, includes a recreational area, a viewpoint, and a space for nine caravans, with the first phase nearing completion after the summer. The initiative aims to revitalize the protected natural area, focusing on environmental improvements. This project follows the demolition of a nearby settlement in 2022, opening up 100,000 square meters for tourism development, and is expected to boost the local economy. A new industrial park is also planned for the area.
