Kursk volunteer dies in mine explosion during evacuation

A volunteer who saved approximately 400 people in the Kursk region died after stepping on a landmine. He will be posthumously honored for his bravery. Alexander Kelendzheridze, 60, was killed near the village of Cherkasskaya Konopelka. He had been assisting with evacuations since August 2024, and was known locally as "Uncle Sasha." Kelendzheridze, a former truck driver, also helped recover the bodies of the deceased. The acting governor announced his death alongside the earlier loss of a Hero of Russia.
