Kisha McCaskill appointed to Cook County Board to replace Monica Gordon

Kisha McCaskill has been appointed as the new 5th District Cook County Board member, replacing Monica Gordon. McCaskill, who has led the Harvey Park District since 2015, was chosen from five candidates during a meeting of Democratic leaders. Gordon, who recently became Cook County clerk, expressed confidence in McCaskill's ability to serve the community. McCaskill will complete Gordon's unexpired term and will run for a full term in 2026. The selection process took place at South Suburban College, where candidates presented their qualifications. Other candidates included Hazel Crest Mayor Vernard Alsberry and Dolton Trustee Kiana Belcher.
