Kioxia stock jumps 13% as SK Hynix earnings signal strong AI memory demand
Kioxia Holdings Corp. stock surged 13.0% to ¥14,240 on Wednesday, rallying in sympathy with memory chip peer SK Hynix after the latter reported substantially stronger-than-expected third-quarter earnings. SK Hynix’s earnings sparked a rally across chipmaking shares, signaling that robust, AI-fueled demand for memory chips is likely to continue. The company also forecast memory supply tightness, a scenario that has sharply driven up prices in the sector over the past year, greatly benefiting chipmakers. Adding to the momentum, investors are positioning ahead of Kioxia’s scheduled first-half fiscal 2026 earnings release on October 30. The stock’s increased weightage in the TOPIX index is also expected to attract buying, while the Nikkei 225 added 1.3% on chip gains.
