Kia Sorento launched in India at Rs 27.99 lakh, takes on Fortuner

Kia India launched the Sorento SUV at Rs 27.99 lakh (ex-showroom), positioning it as the brand's new flagship ICE vehicle and a direct rival to the Toyota Fortuner, with local production in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh. The SUV offers two engines: a 1.6-litre hybrid petrol (180hp plus 65hp electric motor) and a 2.2-litre turbo diesel (202hp), both with FWD and AWD options. It features a bold "Tiger Face" design, twin 12.3-inch displays, Marvel/Disney/Pixar themes, and six- or seven-seat layouts with tan leatherette upholstery. Standard equipment includes a 12-speaker Bose audio system, panoramic sunroof, head-up display, powered tailgate, and real-time generative AI—a global first for the Sorento. Safety adds 10 airbags, ADAS Level 2+, and integrated dashcams, competing against the Fortuner, Tiguan, and Kodiaq.
