Kia Sorento India launch on September 4 with hybrid and diesel options

Kia will launch the Sorento SUV in India on September 4, marking the company's first all-wheel-drive hybrid model in the country, alongside a diesel option. The launch will also debut Kia's live generative AI assistant globally through this vehicle. The three-row premium SUV is expected to be priced around Rs 40 lakh (ex-showroom), competing with the Toyota Fortuner, Skoda Kodiaq, and MG Majestor. Bookings have already begun through dealerships and Kia's website, with the hybrid system likely using a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 238hp and 380Nm. The Sorento is expected in six and seven-seat configurations, featuring dual 12.3-inch displays, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, a head-up display, and Level 2 driver assistance. The diesel variant is expected to use the 2.2-litre engine from the Kia Carnival, producing 202hp and 441Nm.
