Kia has launched the Sorento in India with diesel and strong-hybrid powertrains, priced roughly Rs 1.5 lakh apart, offering buyers a choice between traditional and electrified options in the three-row SUV segment. The diesel starts at Rs 27.99 lakh, while the hybrid begins at Rs 29.49 lakh, with the price gap holding across trims. The diesel uses a 2.2-litre turbo engine producing 195bhp and 442Nm, paired with an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic, while the hybrid combines a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol engine (182bhp, 265Nm) with a 65bhp electric motor (264Nm) and a 6-speed automatic. Kia hasn't published a combined system output for the hybrid, so the figures shouldn't be added together. The diesel suits high-mileage highway drivers seeking lower entry costs, while the hybrid offers smoother city driving and easier electrification without home charging.
