Kevin Feige explains why Jean Grey is Spider-Man 4’s villain instead of Karma

Kevin Feige revealed that the villain Jean Grey in Spider-Man: Brand New Day almost wasn't the film's antagonist, with a very obscure X-Men character considered instead. Feige said several villain options felt unsatisfying. Jean Grey, played by Sadie Sink, was ultimately chosen because she is Peter Parker's age and lacks a mentor. Her body-puppeting powers in the film closely resemble those of the obscure X-Man Karma. In comics, Karma body-hopped Spider-Man in Marvel Team-Up #100 before joining the X-Men. Mister Negative was also a rumored candidate, but likely couldn't be used due to the Insomniac games.
