A Kerala State Road Transport Corporation bus driver, Paul Kurian, retired after 18 years of service, and his emotional farewell to his vehicle on September 2 has gone viral on social media. Kurian, who worked at the Kumily and Kattapana depots on interstate routes, was seen wiping away tears, kissing the bus, and touching its wheels as a sign of reverence. His video drew reactions from Kerala Chief Minister VD Satheeshan and BJP state president Rajeev Chandrashekhar. Satheeshan said he was deeply touched by the farewell, praising Kurian's devotion and calling workers like him the backbone of public transport. Chandrashekhar called the dedication inspiring, comparing it to politicians who bring "values of unkept promises."
