Kenya has detected a gene, NDM-6, in bacteria that confers resistance to last-line antibiotics, marking Africa's first reported case. The gene was found in Acinetobacter baumannii from a woman in Kisii County with a severe infection. This bacterium is known for spreading in hospitals and is difficult to treat.
