Kashmir police officer uses music to connect with community and promote culture
Peer Zahoor, a Senior Superintendent of Police in Jammu and Kashmir, is using music to connect with the community. His song "Yamberzal" became the most popular wedding song in 2024, gaining over one million views on YouTube. Zahoor has written more than 30 songs, including a satirical piece about the electricity crisis in Kashmir. He is the first Kashmiri Muslim lyricist to gain recognition in Bollywood, winning an award for his song "Rubaru." This year, Zahoor will debut on the musical platform Coke Studio. He aims to promote the Kashmiri language and culture through his work, including children's rhymes in Kashmiri.
