Karnataka government will table AI University Bill in winter session

Karnataka will table a Bill creating a dedicated AI University in the winter session, aiming to institutionalize AI education and research. The university will start in an existing government building while about 100 acres near Bengaluru is acquired for a permanent campus. It will offer degree and certificate programmes, with existing institutions providing AI courses until it opens. Government plans industry collaboration, including talks with Infosys co-founder Kris Gopalakrishnan and IIT Bombay’s former director, and studied AI universities in UAE, Stanford and MIT as models.
