Karnataka government employee loses Rs 19 lakh in cyber scam after fake arrest

A Karnataka government employee was scammed out of Rs 19 lakh after being digitally arrested for six hours. The fraudsters posed as Mumbai Crime Branch officials, claiming illegal activity linked to the victim's account. The victim, B.S. Nagabhushan, was threatened during a video call and coerced into revealing his bank details. He transferred the money under the pretense of an investigation, but the scammers disconnected after receiving the funds. In a separate incident, a software professional in Bengaluru lost Rs 11 crore to similar fraudsters. Both cases involved impersonation of police officials and threats regarding false criminal charges.
