Karnataka CID investigates honey-trap claims against politicians
The Karnataka Police's Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has begun an investigation into allegations of honey-trapping against several politicians. State minister and Congress leader KN Rajanna raised concerns during the recent budget session, prompting a response from police officials. Rajanna submitted a complaint to state home minister G Parameshwara, who then referred the case to the CID. Director general of police Alok Mohan ordered the inquiry. CID officials have already visited Rajanna's residence and guest house to gather evidence and interview staff. During the assembly, Rajanna claimed that at least 48 politicians have been targeted and hinted at a larger network. His comments led to considerable unrest, with protests from opposition members. The home minister announced a thorough investigation amid demands for a judicial inquiry into the matter.
