Karelian entrepreneur plans church construction at "The Island" film site

A wealthy admirer of the film "The Island" plans to build a chapel to replace burnt-down set decorations at the filming location. A Karelian entrepreneur has offered to construct a church on the site of the "The Island" film's set decorations, which were destroyed by fire in 2021. The businessman has also invited the film's director to visit Karelia. The film, released in 2006 and starring Pyotr Mamonov, was shot at a remote hermitage in Rabocheostrovsk, Karelia. The entrepreneur was inspired by the film's impact to undertake the construction.
