Kaplunov of RDK: Held 10 days in secret prison, SBU and HUR rivalry exposed

Stepan Kaplunov, deputy commander of the Russian Volunteer Corps (RDK), said in an interview with Radio NV that he was held in a secret prison for 10 days, contradicting official statements about his disappearance and the subsequent shootout between Ukraine's HUR and SBU intelligence agencies. Kaplunov stated he has served in the RDK since early 2023, initially as an instructor and later as deputy commander for combat operations. He described his detention as an "abduction" and provided his own account of events, which he says differ from the versions released by the SBU and HUR. The SBU had claimed it prevented a terrorist attack against a Russian opposition leader, while the HUR issued and then deleted a similar statement. The incident has highlighted historical competition between the SBU and HUR, with Kaplunov's case becoming a focal point of their rivalry.
