Kansas City Chiefs sign Carson Wentz as backup quarterback for 2024 season

The Kansas City Chiefs have signed Carson Wentz as the backup quarterback for the 2024 season. Wentz, a former starter with experience on multiple teams, will support Patrick Mahomes, who remains the team's primary quarterback. Wentz, 31, has had a challenging career with injuries and decreased performance. He previously had a standout season in 2017, throwing 27 touchdowns. In the 2023 season finale, he played for the Rams, achieving two passing touchdowns and a rushing touchdown. Wentz is the only backup on the Chiefs' roster, following Mahomes. In the preseason, he completed nine of 14 passes, including a touchdown to rookie Xavier Worthy.
