Kanlaon Volcano records five ash emissions and 16 earthquakes in 24 hours

Kanlaon Volcano in the Philippines has shown increased activity, with five ash emissions and 16 volcanic earthquakes reported in the last 24 hours. The ash emissions lasted between four and 125 minutes. On February 2, the volcano released over 5,400 tons of sulfur dioxide and produced a 400-meter ash plume. This follows a 78-minute ash emission recorded on February 1. Kanlaon remains at Alert Level 3, indicating heightened volcanic unrest. Authorities have prohibited aircraft from flying near the volcano and recommended evacuations within a 6-kilometer radius.
