Kanlaon Volcano records 23 earthquakes in 24 hours, remains under Alert Level 3

Kanlaon Volcano in Negros recorded 23 volcanic earthquakes in the last 24 hours, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS). The volcano emitted over 4,186 tonnes of sulfur dioxide and showed moderate gas plumes. The volcano remains under Alert Level 3, indicating intensified unrest. PHIVOLCS has restricted access within a six-kilometer radius of the summit and advised against flying near the volcano. The alert level was raised after an eruption on December 9. Negros Oriental has declared a state of calamity due to the ongoing volcanic activity.
