Kanlaon Volcano increases sulfur dioxide emissions and records 15 earthquakes

Kanlaon Volcano on Negros Island emitted over 2,000 metric tons of sulfur dioxide on February 9, an increase from 1,611 metric tons the previous day. The volcano also recorded 15 earthquakes but no ash emissions. The volcano continues to be under Alert Level 3, indicating heightened volcanic activity. A weak plume reached 50 meters high and drifted westward, prompting warnings against flights in the area. On February 5, Kanlaon experienced a minor explosion, producing a plume that rose 600 meters and scattered ash in nearby areas.
