Kallara junction traffic worsens as Onam nears
Traffic congestion at the Kallara junction has become severe, with long vehicle queues frequently forming. If this continues, crossing Kallara during the Onam season could take hours. Police and panchayat efforts to resolve the issue have failed. Kallara is a major junction with hundreds of businesses and thousands of vehicles passing through. Vehicles unloading goods park on the roadside, worsening the congestion. The junction also hosts a school with over 3,000 students, a bus stand, market, and taxi-auto stands, with vehicles parked illegally on both road sides. Authorities suggest solutions like moving taxi stands to the panchayat grounds and creating parking at a new market. A one-way system diverting non-essential traffic via alternative roads is also proposed. Traders and residents demand coordinated action from police, panchayat, and associations for a permanent fix.
