Kadamattam St. George Orthodox Church completes major restoration ahead of rededication ceremony

Kadamattam St. George Orthodox Church has undergone significant restoration, preserving its original murals and structure. The restoration used 3,000 cubic feet of wood and natural colors to revive the church's historical features. The church, believed to date back to the 9th century, features a prominent mural of St. George and the dragon. The restoration began over three years ago and will culminate in a rededication ceremony on February 6 and 7. Church authorities have limited records of renovations, with the last noted in 1945. The restoration aims to highlight the church's rich Christian heritage in Kerala.
