JTB officials visited Nanbu-cho, Tottori Prefecture, to plan sightseeing tours for about 2,000 passengers, mainly Germans, aboard a large cruise ship making its first Sakaiminato port call next March. The JTB Fukuoka branch team and Sakaiminato port officials inspected Nanbu-cho's cultural experiences, including mochi pounding and tea ceremony with German-language kamishibai. The tourism association hosted a Diamond Princess crew monitor tour in June to prepare. The AIDA Stella is scheduled to arrive March 30, with eight optional shore excursions planned and more to come. Nanbu-cho currently centers on Tottori Hanakairo; cultural tours could showcase new attractions.
