Joseph Maffeo Foundation's Casino Night raised $750,000
The Joseph Maffeo Foundation hosted its 19th Annual Casino Night on March 22 at Nicotra’s Ballroom, Hilton Garden Inn in Bloomfield. Over 550 attendees joined the event, raising $750,000 for the Joseph Maffeo Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and a new pediatric center at Northwell Staten Island University Hospital. Keith Manfredi, foundation co-founder, emphasized the night was a celebration of community strength. Guests enjoyed games like blackjack and roulette, while the night’s highlight was a 50/50 raffle offering a $15,000 grand prize. The event also honored Mary Beth Springstead with the Angel Award for her long-term contributions to the hospital. Springstead shared her gratitude in an emotional speech, reflecting on her journey and the importance of supporting the hospital's staff. The foundation aims to enhance healthcare for children on Staten Island, having been founded in memory of firefighter Joseph Maffeo to make a positive impact on local lives. Additionally, Macen’s Way announced a $500,000 pledge to establish a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit as part of the new center. This initiative aims to provide support for children facing various challenges, highlighting the community’s commitment to improving healthcare for families.
