Johan Neeskens, a former Netherlands and Ajax midfielder, has died at the age of 73. He was part of the Dutch teams that reached the World Cup finals in 1974 and 1978 and was influential in the "total football" style. Neeskens passed away while in Algeria for a coaching program. The Dutch FA reported that he became unwell and could not be saved despite medical assistance. He earned 49 caps for the Netherlands and had a successful club career with Ajax and Barcelona, later playing in the U.S. for New York Cosmos and Kansas City Comets.
