Joan Elizabeth Schlecht, longtime Lehighton resident, passes away at 90

Joan Elizabeth Schlecht, 90, of Lehighton, passed away on January 9 at St. Luke’s Hospital-Franklin. She was married to Paul R. Schlecht for 67 years. Joan was born on August 21, 1934, in Coaldale, Pennsylvania. She graduated from The Frankford Hospital School of Nursing and worked for 40 years at Gnaden Huetten Memorial Hospital, mainly as the operating room manager. Joan was active in her church and enjoyed various hobbies, including shopping and traveling. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on January 18 at SS Peter & Paul RC Church in Lehighton. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions can be made to the church.
