Jio dominates India's 5G fixed wireless market

Reliance Jio controls 85% of India's 5G fixed wireless access (FWA) market, which has reached 5.7 million subscribers. This dominance highlights Jio's strong position in the growing home broadband sector. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has, for the first time, classified 5G FWA separately, revealing Jio's 4.8 million subscribers. The home broadband segment offers higher revenue potential than mobile services. Overall telecom subscriber numbers grew by 2.1 million in January, with Jio adding the most users. The shift to 5G FWA has impacted wireline subscriptions due to a change in reporting.
