Jimmy Carter reflects on writing journey and literary achievements before 100th birthday
Jimmy Carter, the former U.S. president, authored over two dozen books, including nonfiction, poetry, and children's stories. His memoir "An Hour Before Daylight" was a Pulitzer finalist, and "Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid" sparked significant debate. Carter received a lifetime achievement award from the Dayton Literary Peace Prize Foundation shortly before his 100th birthday. He noted that writing provided him with income and reflected on the challenges of co-authoring with his wife, Rosalynn. Their collaboration on "Everything to Gain" led to disagreements, but they resolved conflicts by marking disputed sections with initials. This approach helped preserve both their marriage and the book.
