Jaw Surgery Ends Woman's 15-Year Migraine Battle After Six Brain MRIs
Stephanie Benedetti, who spent 15 years and over $1 million seeking relief from chronic migraines, says her symptoms stopped after jaw surgery, following six brain MRIs that found no cause. The 2026 procedures targeted abnormalities at old wisdom-tooth extraction sites. Benedetti, based in Thailand, consulted over 20 doctors across multiple countries and tried numerous treatments before a cone-beam CT scan in 2025 led to a Melbourne dental clinic identifying cavitations, or abnormal bone areas. Surgeons found chronic infection, and she has been migraine-free for about nine months. The diagnosis and clinical significance of cavitations remain controversial in dentistry, and Benedetti acknowledges her experience is personal and not medical advice. She hopes her story encourages others with unexplained symptoms to keep seeking answers.
