Japan's cinematographers launch Cinematic Quantum Academy in 2026

Japan's Society of Cinematographers will launch Cinematic Quantum Academy Class in September 2026, an eight-session program training students and young camera assistants toward international cinematography careers. The classes, held twice monthly for roughly 20 participants at Sony's Digital Media Production Center, cover exposure, lens optics, composition, lighting, workflow, color management and VFX. Instructors include graduates of CQ Master Classes and guest cinematographers active in international co-productions. The program operates under Japan's Creator Support Fund, managed by the Japan Arts Council with Agency for Cultural Affairs subsidies. JSC previously held master classes in Kyoto and Tokyo. Applications open in mid-August.
