Japan unveils emergency cybersecurity plan after wave of hacking incidents
Japan is preparing an emergency cybersecurity package in response to a wave of hacking incidents, Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi announced Monday, vowing swift countermeasures to address growing concerns over data leaks. At an emergency cabinet meeting, Takaichi said the government will compile the measures within a week and join global efforts to identify attackers. Dozens of Japanese businesses have recently reported unauthorized system access and potential client data leaks. A Chinese AI cybersecurity tool called Artex has been linked to several recent hacks, according to GMO Internet Group, which itself faced a $50 million ransom demand. The tool was designed for AI-powered security testing to find system weaknesses.
