Japan, UK, Italy plan to sell fighter jet to Australia
Japan, the UK, and Italy are considering selling their jointly developed new fighter jet to Australia, expanding their "quasi-alliance" framework. The move aims to strengthen defense cooperation amid global instability, with Australia, a "quasi-ally" of Japan, being a key target. India and Canada have also expressed interest in the new fighter, which is slated to replace existing aircraft by 2035. This initiative follows the start of joint development in December 2022, involving major defense companies. The potential sale is seen as a response to concerns about future US involvement in global security.
