Japan tests advanced railgun against target ship

Japan has released photos of its advanced railgun firing a projectile at a target ship during a recent test. The railgun uses electricity to accelerate projectiles to extreme speeds, and Japan is developing it as an air-defense system to counter threats like hypersonic missiles. This test marks the first time Japan's ship-mounted railgun has successfully struck a real ship, amid China's own development of similar futuristic weapons.
