Japan issues early rain alert for Shizuoka, Aichi, Gifu, Mie; Kanto commutes at risk

Japan's Meteorological Agency issued a half-day linear precipitation zone forecast for Shizuoka, Aichi, Gifu, and Mie prefectures early Monday, warning of a rapidly heightened risk of heavy rain disasters. Shizuoka is on alert from Monday evening through Tuesday morning. The forecast covers Shizuoka, Aichi, and Gifu from Monday evening to Tuesday morning, and Mie from Monday afternoon to Tuesday morning. Shizuoka may see up to 150mm of rain in 24 hours through Tuesday, with risks of landslides, flooding, and river rises. A front and tropical depression are intensifying rainfall across western to eastern Japan through Wednesday. The Kanto region also faces stronger rain during evening commutes on Monday and Tuesday, with Tohoku seeing heavier rain on Tuesday.
