Jammu and Kashmir government boycotts Foundation Day as Lieutenant Governor criticizes dual character
The Jammu and Kashmir government, led by Omar Abdullah, boycotted the Union Territory's Foundation Day celebrations, stating they do not recognize it as a Union Territory. This decision led to criticism from Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, who accused them of having a "dual character." Sinha highlighted that the boycott contradicts their oaths as elected officials. He emphasized that Jammu and Kashmir is currently a Union Territory and expressed hope for future statehood. He described the past five years as a period of peace and development. Other political leaders, including Mehbooba Mufti, also boycotted the event, calling it a "black day" for Jammu and Kashmir. They expressed their commitment to restoring statehood and dignity for the region.
