Jacks and Gurbaz set record for highest opening partnership in losing T20 match
Will Jacks and Rahmanullah Gurbaz set a new record for the highest opening partnership in a losing T20 match, scoring 154 runs for Pretoria Capitals against Durban Super Giants. Their team lost by two runs in the SA20 match on January 10, 2025. Gurbaz scored 89 runs off 43 balls, while Jacks added 64 runs from 35 balls. Despite their strong start, the Capitals collapsed after their dismissals, losing six wickets for just 53 runs in the final overs. This marks the first instance in 11 years of a 150-run opening partnership ending in defeat. The previous record was set in 2014 by Henry Davids and Dean Elgar.
