Iwate firms unveil new business models in bank-backed program

Three companies in Iwate Prefecture presented new business models on September 1 as part of a program supported by Kitanippon Bank to help launch new ventures. The bank began the initiative in June to support local business development. The companies, based in Morioka and Ichinoseki cities, unveiled their proposals. Morioka's Hokuei Shoji presented an original fragrance experience service for customers during vehicle inspection waits, while Ichinoseki's Hirano-gumi proposed a cooled booth for construction workers to recover from heat stress. The program will recruit startup companies for joint demonstration experiments, with results scheduled for presentation in February 2027. A bank official said supporting new business creation is meaningful for the regional financial institution.
