Ivanka Trump was seated in the front row during President Donald Trump's meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Washington, placing her closer to the action than senior cabinet members like Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, and Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth. She attended alongside her 15-year-old daughter, Arabella, Vice-President JD Vance, and his wife, Usha Vance. Ivanka has largely stayed out of politics during her father's second term, though her husband, Jared Kushner, has remained involved in diplomatic efforts, including negotiations involving Iran and attempts to end Russia's war in Ukraine. Arabella's connection with Xi may explain the family's presence, as she sang a Mandarin song for Xi during his 2017 visit to Mar-a-Lago and later addressed him and his wife as "Grandpa Xi" and "Grandma Peng" in a video shown by Trump in Beijing. The Trump-Kushner family has also celebrated Chinese culture, marking Chinese New Year in February, with Ivanka posting about the Year of the Fire Horse. Trump has spoken warmly about Xi ahead of a state dinner, describing him as "strong, vibrant, and fit - Better than ever" and praising his wife as "BEAUTIFUL."
