Italy's energy crisis adds 16 billion euros in costs for families and businesses

ilrestodelcarlino.it (Italian) —

Italy's energy crisis has cost families and businesses an extra 16.5 billion euros since the Iran crisis began, according to CNA Studies Office data through September 30. Fuel accounts for nearly half the increase at 7.4-7.6 billion euros, followed by electricity (5.8-6 billion) and direct gas use (3-3.3 billion). September alone added 4.6-5.2 billion, with petrol hitting a record 2.141 euros per liter and diesel reaching its highest since 1996. CNA Modena president Cesare Galavotti warns the burden erodes small business margins and employment, urging price transparency, targeted micro-enterprise support, and using extra tax revenue to stabilize tariffs.
